"Big Mon" Master Model
This is an early example of the larger bodied "Big Mon" Model, made in the first year of production, Built from fancy Red maple, with an Adirondack Red spruce top. This mandolin has the Northfield "Modern" set-up, with a radiused fretboard, abbreviated fretboard extension, 1 1/8" nut and a soft "V-shaped" neck. It's had a recent refret and a new set-up, with a new pearl nut, new Northfield ebony bridge and new James tailpiece (from Northfield). It plays better than new!
The varnish finish shows moderate play wear and some checking due to humidity/perspiration (see pictures). But, it's really a good looking "Big Mon" with ear-splitting volume, and the expected "woofy bark" the "Big Mon" is known for. This is a really good, "played-in" mandolin,that needs

Master Model
This 2010 Master Model is almost new! It's made of premium Red maple and has an Adirondack Red spruce top. The frets and hardware are in "as new" condition and the mandolin, overall, shows no play wear or blemishes! This mandolin has Northfield's traditional set-up with a slightly radiused, Loar-style fretboard and a 1 1/16" pearl nut, This mandolin has pleanty of volume, a good Bluegrass "chop" and plays in-tune up and down the fretboard. It's everything mandolin players have come to expect from Northfield and needs nothing (except maybe an upgrade to a James tailpiece, which we can provide, at an additional cost).
